Green Bikes

Green Bikes is an open workshop where locals can come in and repair their own bikes.

With friendly mechanics available to offer guidance, the focus is on DIY learning, providing access to a variety of tools, and helping individuals build skills and knowledge.

A mobile bike repair station allows Green Bikes to run workshops and events in the community and schools.

Another important aspect of Green Bikes is the reuse of donated bicycles, whether as parts or whole bikes. These refurbished bikes are then sold at affordable prices, helping to make cycling accessible to more people.

Cycling is an eco-friendly, cost-effective form of active transport that offers significant health benefits. In Whanganui, a mostly flat town, biking is an excellent way to get around. It also helps reduce isolation and transport poverty, providing individuals with greater independence and freedom.

Whether you’re passionate about bikes or simply want to contribute to a fantastic community project, Green Bikes is a great place to volunteer – please reach out to learn more.

Visit Green Bikes at the back of the EnviroHub on Tuesdays from 1-5pm and Wednesdays from 2-5pm.
